Competition Rules

1. Entrants must be of qualifying age on 1st December 2017

2. Entrants can apply for more than one category or greater age categories. 

3. Complete the application form and return via email to : lapianistasydney@gmail.com.

4. Birth Certificate or proof of age must be attached together with the application form.

5. Three copies of “Own Choice” material MUST be provided and posted no later than 1st December 2017 to :

7. No more than 15 entrants will be accepted to the Elite C Category ( 17 – 25 years old ).

8. Application fees are non-refundable for any cancellation, except an event is cancelled.

9. La Pianista Australia reserves the rights to cancel an event; refuse or amend entry, should there be insufficient entries.

Performance Rules

1. All performances MUST be memorized.

2. All repeat signs ( including first-time bar ) are required to be omitted, except DaCapo ( DC ) and DalSegno ( DS ) indications.

3. Participants are advised to dress appropiately.

    Dress Code : FORMAL ( No T-Shirt, jeans, sport shoes, sandals )

4. La Pianista Australia reserves the right to ‘cut’ or stop the performance exceeding the specified time limit.

5. The adjudicator’s decision is FINAL and JUST.

Perform 1 piece of own choice

  • Performance A : Under 8 years old ( max time : 2 mins )
  • Performance B : Age 9 – 10 years old ( max time : 2 mins )
  • Performance C : Age 11 – 12 years old ( max time : 2,5 mins )
  • Performance D : Age 13 – 14 years old ( max time : 3 mins )

 

Classic Category

Perform 1 piece from following choices

  • Classic A : Age 9 – 11 years old
  1. Burgmuller : 25 Easy and Progressive Etudes, Op. 100
  2. R. Schumann : Album for the Young, Op. 68
  • Classic B : Age 12 – 14 years old
  1. Clementi or Kuhlau Sonatina : Fast Movement
  2. S. Prokovief : Music for Children, Op. 65
  • Classic C : Age 15 – 17 years old
  1. W. A. Mozart Sonata : Fast Movement
  2. F. Chopin : Waltz

 

Elite Category

There will be 2 stages in Elite Category.

Preliminary Round : Choose 1 piece from following choices

Final Round : Choose 1 piece of own choice.

  • Elite A : Age 9 – 12 years old
  1. E. Grieg : Lyric Pieces
  2. F. Chopin : Nocturnes
  3. R. Schumann : Album Leaves, Op. 124
  • Elite B : Age 13 – 16 years old
  1. L. V. Beethoven Sonata : Fast Movement ( before & including Op. 31, No. 3 )
  2. W. A. Mozart Sonata : Fast Movement
  3. F. J. Haydn Sonata : Fast Movement
  • Elite C : Age 17 years old and above

        Perform 1 piece of 20th century composer, works composed after 1930 ( max time : 8 mins )
